My Goal for 2017

Home/The Loft/My Goal for 2017

My Goal for 2017

Each year starts the same. We want to do better, be better, work harder and accomplish our resolutions. This year I’m seeking something different. I want one goal – just one. But, what if my goal isn’t right? What do I do now?

“If you do what is right in the eyes of the Lord, then how can you go wrong.”

With a bowed head and a yielded heart, I seek His mind on the matter. He has plans for me – I need to know what He thinks.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11 NIV

“I keep in mind My purpose for you…” Jeremiah 29:11a Moffatt

GOAL – SEEK GOD’S WILL

STEP #1

Find out God’s plans for me – not my own. Pray daily.

“Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. Jeremiah 29:12 NIV

STEP #2

Seriously seek Him with my whole heart.

“You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you,” declares the Lord…” Jeremiah 29:13-14a NIV

STEP #3

Go to the Secret Place – be real before the Living God and ask some hard questions:

• What do I want?
• What does God have planned for me?
• Do they agree?

• Why do I want it?
• Why does God want for me?
• Do we agree?

• Can I do it?
• How will God give me the abilities to do it?
• Do we agree?

• What’s my action plan?
• God’s action plan?
• Do they agree?

Step #4

Be prepared to listen, learn and take action.

STEP #5

Don’t forget who God is.

I know most people have more than one goal. But, I have only one, and I hope to keep it at the forefront of my life. I’ll come before the Creator for His plans and make sure I’m walking in agreement with His will step-by-step in 2017.

So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom. Psalm 90:12 ESV

But I trust in You, O Lord; I say, “You are my God.” My times are in Your hand… Psalm 31:14-15a ESV

  • What about you?
  • What’s your goal or goals for the new year?
