Have you ever read these words in Holy Script and wonder what Jesus meant?
“Whoever has ears let them hear.” Matthew 11:15 NIV
Doesn’t everyone have ears to hear?
There’s more here than meets the eye – more to it than I can understand. I asked Him. “Sir! What does this mean?
He shows me.
Our ears hear many things: the wind in the willows, birds singing, rap music in a passing car, radio blaring and children yelling upstairs. What we hear with our mind is one thing, but the listening soul hears something else. From our soul, we hear God.With our soul, we move near to hear His whispered words of wisdom – move to understand Him.Click To Tweet
Our spiritual ears focus on the Word of God. His guidance, instruction, discipline and even correction are wind blowing through our ears if we’re not willing to listen – willing to understand. He wants us to listen.
Then a cloud appeared and enveloped them, and a voice came from the cloud: “This is My Son, whom I love. Listen to Him.” Mark 9:7 NIV
We learn how to hear this way in leaving the hustle, bustle and demanding sounds and enter into the Secret Place – the Holy Place. Here He instructs and teaches us the way we should go. He reveals His plans for you. His unfailing love surrounds those who trust Him.
The Secret Place – the place He teaches His disciples.
He covets our time with Him as well. He treasures these moments because He knows just what we need. Competing sounds confuse and harass us. Don’t let them take away the seeds planted in your heart.
God wants to be alone with you – no interruptions and no one else present.
Jesus did not want anyone to know where they were because He was teaching His disciples.Mark 9:30b-31a NIV
His ways are not our ways. But He wants us to know His ways – to find delight in His ways.
His thoughts are not our thoughts. But, He wants us to grasp the mind of Christ so that we may know Him – the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit – One.
Covet your time with Him.
With awe and expectation enter into the Secret Place. Let no one know where you are. Close the door behind you – come into His presence. You are with the Lord.
Come and Listen!
He is a speaking God. He will whisper words of love and wisdom in your ear.
Call to Him and He will show you great and wonderful things you do not know. The mysteries belong to the Lord, and only He can reveal them to you.
In mute silence listen!
He knows you. There’s an intimacy between the created and the Creator – the redeemed and the Redeemer.Click To Tweet
He is the only One, who can reach your soul to touch it. The Holy Spirit dwells in you to teach, counsel, and guide. Remember He is called the Spirit of truth.
With seeing eyes, listening ears and a clear mind you will learn of Him.
Hear His voice.
Listen with hearing ears
If you do not understand and if the words seem unbelievable to you then wait on Him to show you the way. Don’t be afraid to ask Him about it. Don’t leave Him until you know the truth. Breathe in His Word and learn of Him. He wants you to learn – He wants you to know the truth.
Ask questions and listen!
Do not be quiet. Talk to the Teacher and he will teach. Draw near to Him to listen. Lean in to learn. He opens blind eyes to see and deaf ears to hear. Trust Him and He will open your ears to hear. Nothing is too difficult for God.
Listen and learn from Him.
Children gather to hear. They ask why and refuse empty answers. They want to know – they want to understand. You are His child, and He is an excellent Teacher.
Listen! You are His child.
And He took the children in His arms, put His hands on them and blessed them. Mark 10:16, NIV
The next time you read these words: “Whoever has ears let them hear.” run to the Secret Place because the Lod is waiting – waiting to teach you.
What is He telling you?
