Too many times I’ve opened His Word in a hurry thinking I have bigger and better things to do.
But not today.
Today, I choose to see – see these ancient words spoken long ago and recorded in Holy Script with new eyes.
Ask, and it will be given to you. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and the door will be opened to you. (Matthew 7:7)
“Sir! Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight,”
Sir! Your will I seek. I yield to Your good purposes for me. I relinquish all right to self. I cannot go on like this any longer. My way is dangerous. It always takes me away from You. I know Your ways are good. Please guide my steps.
I knock hard on that door with all my heart, waiting to see who opens it.
How unworthy I am in His presence. But, He welcomes me – He welcomes me in like a long-awaited friend. He pulls me in with His love.
He speaks – I listen.
I listen – He speaks.
Our fellowship is sweet.
I’ve found confidence in Him in His presence. This Peace He pours, it moves smoothly into the inner recesses of my soul comfortably dwelling in my heart. ”
I’ve found Him, and He’s given me strength for another day. He’s all I need.
Ask. Seek Knock.
I never knew I would find such treasured words this morning – words changing my life.
For everyone who asks receives, he who seeks finds and to him who knocks, the door will be open. (Matt 7:8)
But, wait a minute! There’s more.
Before I leave the Secret Place and enter into the demands of another day, God nudges me again, and I look down at His word and find something more. Something more? My heart burns within me. Can I handle more?
For the Lord gives wisdom, and from His mouth come knowledge and understanding. (Proverbs 2:6)
Dawn is breaking, is see a few rays of sunshine. Outside my window, in the clean, clear air, I hear the birds begin to sing.
Dawn, beautiful dawn, reflecting God’s faithfulness. The world turns on its axis as magnificent bursts of clear light slowly wake everyone to another day. Nocturnal creatures silently move to their hiding places, and birds sing praises to their Creator.
God has inaugurated another day with His blessings.
I look out my window to find hundreds of birds – maybe thousands. I don’t know where they’re going or where they’ve been, but I do see they’re flying to their heart’s delight. Around and around they go, dancing in the sky. Swirling and twirling, to a song only they can hear.
- Is it a secret song from their Creator?
- Do they recognize God as their faithful Provider and Keeper?
- In their small breasts do they lift yielded hearts?
I believe they do. These lovely birds have survived another night, God has provided for them, and they sing praises and dance in the wind. Imagine, not one sparrow falls with Him knowing it.
Let us, His people, stop to thank Him. He has given us another day and provided for our needs. Let us have the confidence and assurance of the birds of the air.
What a treasure it is to face each day in a state of devotion.
In the watches of the night, God kept watch over us, and now He has inaugurated another day fresh with possibilities and ready for our discovery.
In unhurried steps, I walked out the door. All I did was ask, seek and knock and here God shows me the beauty of this moment – the beauty of knowing Him. I am humbled and filled with joy at the same time.
What is this moment called? Reconciliation!
The fruit of reconciliation is knowing God intimately. I take this lesson from the birds and move to praise Him. Let the yielded heart dance in the wind, free to love Him.
Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life… look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?… But seek first His kingdom and his righteousness and all these things will be given to you as well. (Matthew 6:25a, 26-27 and 33)
